I have seen the actual book of births and can verify that it matches the information in this modern birth certificate. I obtained this birth certificate from the probate court. Additional Comments: Amelia Irene Miller was born 13 July 1900 on Lower Twin Creek about 800 feet southeast of Turkey Ridge Road in Twin Township, Ross County, Ohio. Some people in the family will disagree with the birth date. They will do so because Amelia always celebrated her birthday on the 21st of July, and because Amelia herself, until just a few months before her death, believed that she had been born on the 21st. She believed so because she had never seen an official record of her birth, and because the family bible recorded that she had been born on the 21st. However, when Amelia turned 61, she started gathering documents to qualify for social security in the coming year. She sent off to the county courthouse for any record of birth that they might have, expecting that they would have none. To her surprise, her birth was not only recorded, but the official county record showed that she had been born on the 13th of July, not the 21st. No one knows whether the date was recorded wrong in the family bible, or whether the wrong date was put into the county records, but either way, there could only be one official birthdate, and as usual, the government’s version won. Amelia celebrated her birthday twice the following year.
