     The inscription on this stone reads, "GEORGE PENNISTEN DIED FEB. 29, 1884 
AGED 58 YRS 8 MOS 21 Ds."  This stone is a square pillar with a book carved on 
the top.

Additional Comments:

     There were several George Penistens in Southern Ohio in this general time 
period.  This George was the son of Joseph Pennisten (1796-1866) and Jerusha 
(or Gerousch) Lunbeck Pennisten (1800-1830), and the grandson of Rev. War 
veteran George Pennisten Jr. (1758-1846) and Rebecca Wheaton (1775-
1850).
