Additional Comments: The above marriage record is for Ross County, Ohio residents Harold Hester and Nora Spurgeon. They ran off to Greenup, Kentucky to get married, where they lied about their age. The marriage record will reflect that fact. Two other discrepancies on the marriage record should be noted. The proper spelling for the husband's residence should be "Lyndon", not "Linden", and the mother of the wife was "Lillie Mae Levy", not "Lillie Mae Leang". Nora and Harold were my grandparents. I once asked my grandmother to tell me how she and my grandfather had met. She replied, in her usual humble manner, "I met your grandpa at the Beechgrove Church at a social. He asked me to dance. I was scared to death. I thought I was ugly and he wouldn't ask me again, but he did." The Beechgrove Church was on Lower Twin Road in Twin Township of Ross County, near intersection of Lower Twin Road and Porter Hollow Road. There is nothing left at the location now except a few pieces of cement and open field.
