Kansas St. and Maple Lane, across from the Indian Springs Mobile Home Park, lies the grave of John and Rebecca Zimmerman. The inscription for John is: John Zimmerman died Jan. 23, 1879 aged 78 years, 2M's, and 12 days O.M. Mallernee Clyde The inscription for Rebecca is: Rebecca Wife of J. Zimmerman died Dec. 22, 1860 aged 58years, 24 days The grave stone is in fair shape with a lot of lichen growth on the outside. It is a tall thin shape with a star GAR marker at the base on John's side with the years 1861-1865. It seems that John did serve in the Civil War in some capacity. Beside the grave stone was one for William Zimmerman and his family. Maybe this is another family or a son. The inscriptions are as follows: William Zimmerman Mar 23, 1825-Jan 9, 1911 Elizabeth his wife April 20, 1830-Sept 5, 1886 Elijah H. son Oct 21, 1864-Aug 17, 1890 Mary B. dau Nov 12, 1858-Sept 4, 1859 Assuming that William was the son of John and Rebecca he would have been 35 years of age in the 1860 census, therefore not listed with them. There is also the possibility that he was a brother as well.
