On Monday morning the aged lady arose early, did her usual morning work, was taken ill and died early Tuesday morning. The deceased was born in Hagertown, Maryland September 15, 1807, removed to Ohio with her parents in her early life and settled in Sandusky County, near Fremont. She was married to Joel Benton, January 16, 1832. To them were born eleven children; three daughters deceased,two sons and a daughter reside here, a daughter resides in Missouri, and a son in Audubon County,the residence of others is unknown. She came to Iowa from Illinois,in 1879 has lived quietly with her son for some years here. Her age and infirmities precluded her mingling in society and she lived a quiet, industrious life at home. Mother Benton was converted at the age of 16, then having association with the German Reformed Church. Later in life she united with the United Brethern Church of which she continued a member. When taken sick on Monday, she realized death was near and undauntedly trusting, come to the passage of the river bearing her severe suffering with christain submission and passed away in christain peace. Additional Comments: Margaret's husband bought land in Sandusky County very close to Michael Miller. Michael was probably a near relative of Margaret. Anyone who thinks they might be able to provide information as to the connection or is a relative of Michael Miller please feel free to contact me as we would like to follow her line back as far as possible also.
