Lucy M. King was of pure French descent, both of her parents, Alexander and Lucy King, having come to this country from France, her father having been a sea captain for many years. She was born at Cairo, Ill., Oct. 4, 1848. She has two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Siager, Indianapolis, Ind., and Mrs. Mary Baer, Lansing, Mich. There were also two brothers, both soldiers in the great Civil War, Frank and Joseph. These brothers are probably both dead, although there is no record available to the Scott family of what has become of them. They have simply gone out of the circle of relatives here with absolutely no knowledge of their whereabouts. The King family moved from Cairo, Ill. to Fremont, Ohio, and there the parents died. It was there also that Lucy King, the subject of this notice, was married to Elijah J. Scott Feb. 29, 1864. The newly wedded couple began housekeeping near York, Townsend township. Four children were born to them, Frank, William, Estella and Ernest. Estella passed away Aug. 18, 1892, and William Dec. 24, 1908. Mrs. Scott leaves to mourn her death, her husband, two sons, three grandchildren, three great- grandchildren and two sisters. She was a charter member of the Woman’s Relief Corps, a member of Clyde Presbyterian Church, and was much concerned in the work of the church and faithful attendant upon the services as long as her health would permit. The last Sunday services she and her husband were permitted to attend together were on Dec. 12, 1920. While much interested in the work of the church she was none the less domestic in her tastes, a splendid housekeeper and mother, a good wife and kind neighbor, as a host of friends will testify. The funeral was held at the residence on Tuesday morning conducted by Rev. Isaiah Revennaugh and under the auspices of the W.R.C. Interment was made in McPherson cemetery. __________ File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/oh/sandusky/obits/s/scott1350gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/ohfiles/ File size: 2.6 Kb
