At noon Friday, at his late residence in Ballville village, occurred the demise of Samuel Spayde, one of the well-known pioneers of Sandusky county. Mr. Spayde’s death was due to old age and heart trouble, brought on by a severe attack of pneumonia he suffered some months ago. Mr. Spade had reached the advanced age of 83 years and had lived a long, useful and well-spent life. He was a native of Pennsylvania, but in early life located in Richland county, later locating in Sandusky county, where he resided for more than fifty years previous to his death." The deceased leaves six children, five daughters and son, to mourn his departure, as well as a number of grandchildren. Mrs. Spayde died some years ago. The children are: Mrs Frank P. Smith, of Fremont; Mrs. A. E. Decker and Mrs. W. R. Gilson, of Vermillion; Mrs. Wm. Beck, of Marion, Ind.; Mrs. C. Carr, of Fremont and Oscar Spayde, of Ballville. Mr. Spayde was an honored and respected citizen, a kind husband and father." The funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon in the Ballville U. B. church, after which the remains will be interred in Oakwood.
