Allmann biographical sketch Portsmouth OH names: Allmann, Wopschall, Lehmann, Kricker Mary A. Allmann, teacher of vocal and instrumental music, Portsmouth, is the daughter of Lawrence and Dorothea (Wopschall) Allmann, natives of Germany. At the age of nine years she commenced the study of music and has since pursued it diligently, first learning it in German and then in English, and for the past fourteen years has been engaged in teaching. Her father was born in 1810 and came to America in 1833. Her mother was born in 1816 and came to America about 1838. They were married in 1838 in New York City, and came to Portsmouth in 1848, where Mr. Allmann died Jan. 4, 1865. Their family consisted of ten children, five of whom are still living — Mary, our subject; Frank, a saddler in Portsmouth; Margaret, widow of Theodore Lehmann; Katie, widow of Frank Kricker, and George, a frescoe painter in New Haven, Conn. Elizabeth, Joseph, and three children named John are deceased.
