Mrs. Virginia Baldwin, sister of Lee, and wife of his slayer, was in attendance. Froman M Coots, coroner, said his verdict will be this: Lee came to death from gunshot wounds at the hands of Baldwin, at the home of the latter. Edward Wyatt, Baldwin's stepson, who lived on a shanty boat with Lee and his brother, John Lee, said he was in the yard when Ernest Lee came to the home. He said he saw Lee and heard the shooting, but did not see an exposed pistol in Lee's hands. Lee held a cigarette in one hand and knocked on the door with the other, Wyatt declared. Mrs. Baldwin came to the door, the witness stated, but declined to admit her brother. Lee shoved the door open, it was testified, and found Baldwin in the house with a shotgun. "I cam for my gun", Lee is quoted as saying as he walked up to Baldwin.
