The Portsmouth Daily Times, Nov. 25, 1938
Mrs. Fannie Jones, 73, died at 12:30 p.m Thurday at the home of a daughter, 
Mrs. Alfred Lloyd of McDermott.  Mrs. Jones had been in ill health for the 
last three months and death was attributed to complications.

Mrs. Jones was born December 25, 1865, in Lawrence County, a daughter of 
William H. and Angeline McDaniel Massie.  She came to Rush Township with her 
parents 60 years ago and became a member of the Rushtown Baptist Church.  She 
was married to Daniel W. Jones of McDermott on Aug. 5, 1883. Her husband died 
three years ago.

Surviving her are her daughter and four sons, John A. Jones of Alliance, 
Charles and Harrison Jones of McDermott and Alva Jones of Duck Run.  Four 
Children proceeded her in death, her oldest daughter, Mrs. Nida Porter, died 
20 years ago on Thanksgiving Day.  She also leaves two brothers, Elihu E. 
Massie of Portsmouth and Birch Massie of Lucasville.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Rushtown Baptist Church, 
with Rev. H.O. Van Gilder of Temple Baptist Church, Portsmouth, in charge.  
Burial will be in Rushtown Cemetery.  The body will remain at the Rockwell 
Funeral Home until Saturday afternoon, when it will be taken to the Lloyd 
residence at McDermott.
