Prayther Taken By Death Former Open Hearth Employee Passes Away Following Operation James Garfield Prayther, 60, of 1322 Kinney's Lane, Former employee of the open hearth department of Portsmouth works, Wheeling Steel Corp., passed away at 10:45 p.m. Saturday in Mercy Hospital. Mr. Prayther had been in ill health the last year and underwent a major operation in St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington, Jan. 1924. He has admitted to Mercy Hospital at 6 p.m. Saturday and underwent another operation at 9 p.m. He was born Nov. 11, 1880, at Morehead, a son of Frank and Anna Donohoe Prayther. Mr. Prayther is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nancy Prayther; three daughters, Mrs. Lola Davis and Mrs. Edna Swain, both of 1332 Kinney's Lane, Mrs. Florine McConnell, 1815 Oakland Avenue; three sisters, Mrs. Mamie Day of Newcastle, Ind,; Mrs. Blanche Pigman and Mrs. Flora HIcks of Morehead, two brothers, Joseph Prayther of Logan, W. Va., and William Prayther of Englewood, Calif. He also is survived by one grandchild. The body has been moved to Windel-Howland funeral home. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. C.M. Bowman, pastor of First United Brethren Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
