Page 11a OBITUARY -------- The grim messenger of death feared of many, came not unex- pectedly, and as far as the de- parted was concerned, not unwel- comed, las Sunday morning, May 28th, at 7:30 o'clock to Mrs. Lucinda Rimer. Often in the past months had she expressed the desire that the time of her release might come, and that she might be permitted to pass on to that other country where she confidently expected to greet the loved and lost of other years. The later years of her life were clouded with troubles and sor- rows. Her husband, to whom she was much attached, passed away in July 1919, and a son who had made a long struggle against tuberculosis had finally come home to die and after a gradual decline passed away at the home of his parents in January 1918. She herself suffered bodily af- fliction which grew worse as age increased, and finally affected her mind as well as her body. But her children, and especially her oldest daughter cared for her faithfully through this long and trying period. Mrs. Rimer was born in nion Township, Putnam County, Ohio on the 8th of October, 1846, and departed this life in Columbus Grove on May 28, 1922 at the age of 75 years, 7 months and 20 days. Her father and mother Edward Nichols and Margaret Irwin Nichols were the parents of six daughters and three sons. Two brothers Joseph and Ed- ward Nichols preceeded her in death. She was united in marriage with James Rimer on the 23rd of November, 1865. They resided for a time on a farm in Union Township, but Mr. Rimer's trade took him away from home during the day, so finally in 1895 they moved to Columbus Grove, and here she continued to reside dur- ing the remainder of her life. Mrs. Rimer was the mother of five children One daughter died in infancy and her son C. C. Rimer who practiced law for a period of years in this and sur- rounding counties, died in 1918 as already noted. In January 1871 she and her husband became members of teh Columbus Grove Presbyterian church and in that faith she remained a member of this or- ganization until her death. Mrs. Rimer was very tender hearted and sympathetic in dis- position. Sorrow and trouble ever weighed heavily upon her, and during her life she had her full share of them to bear. She was loyal and devoted to her friends and the members of her household. She leaves behind two daugh- ters, Mrs. Walt Miller of Colum- bus Grove, and Mrs. Nellie Davies of Lapeer, Michigan, also one son, Emory Rimer of White- house, Ohio. There are also 9 grand children and three great grand children. Besides these there remain five sisters, Mrs. Martha Holt and Mrs. John C. Best of Columbus Grove, Mrs. Hannah Spratt of Dundee, Michigan, Mrs. Jane Anderson of Marion, Indiana and one brother, Amos Nichols of Columbus Grove. She has passed through the valley of the shadow, may it be hers to rest in the land of eternal peace. Card of Thanks We desire to express our sin- cere thanks to the neighbors and friends for their kind sympathy and helpfulness during the sick- ness and death of our mother, Lucinda Rimer.
