Page: 13a Clinton Ladd Falls From Hay Mow ---------------- DIES THREE HOURS LATER FROM FRACTURED SKULL ---------------- Clinton Ladd living about eight miles west of here was kill- ed last Friday when he fell out of the hay mow at his neighbor Harrison's barn while putting up hay. No one knows how the ac- cident happened. Several men were in the barn at the time but did not see him fall. A number of the men, however, heard him fall on the floor and picked him up in an unconcious condition. He died three hours later from a fractured skull. Ladd was twen- ty six years of age and leaves a wife and child. Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at the Salem church. -------------- ERNEST SNEARY GOES WEST -------------- Will Endeavor To Regain His Health in Highter Altitude Earnest Sneary, accompanied by his wife and children, also his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Sneary, left last Tuesday even- ing for Colorado Springs, Colo- rado where Mr. Sneary will stay some time to regain his health. Mr. Sneary has been suffering from tuberculor infection for several months. His physician advised him to go to a different climate in the hope that he might combat the dreadful disease to greater advantage. Mr. Sneary has our best wishes as he leaves the community for the west. ------------ OTTAWA LOSES CURRENT FIGHT ------------ An injunction enjoining the city of Ottawa from issuing $87, 000 in bonds, was granted the Northwestern Ohio Light com- pany in common pleas court last Friday. The proposed bond issue was for the purpose of financing the construction of a distributing system for electric power here Judge Eastman ruled the bond issue illegal, and forbade the city to carry out a contract with the Paulding Electric company. ------------ MICHAEL CAHILL DIES ------------ Michael Cahill, aged 39 years died at his late home about 3 miles north of Columbus Grove, last Tuesday evening. Michael had been suffering from dropsy and had been a life long cripple. Brothers surviving are John, Thomas, and James and one sis- ter Mrs. Siefker. Funeral services will be held at the St. Peter and Paul Catholic church, Ottawa, Friday. ------------ John Current who lost $200 recently recovered same last Mon- day evening. Mr. Current car- ried the money in a little side pocket of his trousers. He did not know that he had it lost until a week or so after. As soon as he discovered his loss he adver- tised it and also had a large card made. When he attempted to place the card in some suitable place he came across John Bair and asked him where he should place the big card. "Let me read teh card first" said Mr. Bair. When he had read it he said, "Tear it up." "I might as well," said Current, "for I shall never find it." "O yes you will find it," re- joined Mr. Bair in such a confi- dent tone, so that Mr. Current was going to put up a bet, but Mr. Bair waived this procedure. "Your money is found" said Mr. Bair "and you can get same tomorrow morning in the bank." Imangine the astonishment of Mr. Current who could hardly believe the words and yet he knew John was honest. The money had been found in the alley between the Grove House and the Meat market over a week ago by Noah Bair. He picked up the three bills, one of $100 and two of $50 denomina- tions and brought them to his brother to find out whether it was real money. Thereupon Noah Bair deposited the money in the bank witing for word from the looser. ----------------------------- Brotherhood of the Congrega- tional church Tuesday evening speaking on the good Samaritan. Mrs. Elizabeth Williams of Lima is visiting her sister Mrs. Martha Thomas. The marriage of Miss Francis Jones to Glen Powell was per- formed by Rev. Whilding at the Parsonage, Saturday morning. They will move on her mother's farm west of Gomer. Mrs. David Hiner passed away Saturday evening. Funeral ser- vices Tuesday 1:30 at the Con- gregational church. -----------------------------
