Mr. Jones committed suicide by hanging by a rope in the woodshed just be- hind the house. His body was found by his eleven year old son Howard. The lads cry attracted his mother who ran to the scene and slashed the rope by which her husband's body hung from an iron beam in the shack. Efforts at resuiciation were futile. Mr. Jones had helped his wife do the family washing that morn- ing and was preparing the auto- mobile to go to Vaughnsville with the family. No one had any inkling that he brooded over any troubles, but it is supposed that financial troubles and a lesser share than his other relatives in the Jones inheritance caused the deed. Surving Watkins Jones are the widow formerly Miss Lula Logan of Vaughnsville, and six children, Lucille, 13, Howard 11, Pauline 9, Annabelle 6, Mary Ann 4 and Veda Mae 3 months. Brothers and sisters surviving him are Mrs. Carl Clevenger and Mrs. Martha Jones of lima, Mrs. Ben- ton Miller and J. C. Jones of West Cairo, Mrs. Ed Falke, Del- phos and Thomas and Miss Min- nie Jones of Gomer. His aged mother, Mrs. Mary Jones of Gomer also survives him. Mrs. Jones, wife of the dead man is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Logan and the sister to J. A. Logan of this place. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at the residence.
