Mabel Garvin Burkin An unusually sad death occurred last Saturday evening when Mrs. Mabel Burkin, wife of Fred Burkin, passed away at the family home 2 1/2 miles northwest of Clyde, at the age of 39 years and 27days, death being due to pneumonia. A baby daughter born about the same time passed away with the mother. All the other members of the family have been ill in bed. The funeral of Mrs. Burkin was held at St. mary's church Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock, conducted by Rev, Father Tennessen, interment being made in the adjoining cemetery. The body of the infant daughter was also interred in St. mary's cemetery on Monday. Mrs. Burkin was the daughter of Henry and Catherine Garvin and was born in Riley township Jan. 8, 1886. She continued to reside at the family home with her parents until her marriage to Mr. Burkin 15 years ago. Three daughters and four sons, the oldest 12 years of age, survive with the father to mourn the death of a loving wife and mother. The mother of the deceased, Mrs. Henry Garvin of Fremont, also survives. Her father died last December. Seven sisters are living.
