Chapel of Roses to Be Dedicated This Sunday Chapel of Roses, newly completed unique and attractive chapel building at Oak Hill Memorial park, will be dedicated at brief exercises Sunday afternoon, following which the new building will be open for public inspection. Constructed and furnished by A. J. Hocking at a cost of $30,000, the chapel has been designed and arranged to provide a beautiful and suitable setting for weddings, christenings and funerals. At the rear of the building is a modern, new crematory which has been in operation two and one-half months. The dedication program will start at 2:30 p.m. The opening prayer will be given by the Rev. M. M. Kilpatrick of Gilroy, former pastor of Westminster Presbyterian church. Short addresses will be given by Dr. James Whitaker, former pastor of Centella Methodist Church, and R. W. E. Crouser, pastor of Grace Lutheran church. Vocal numbers will be sung by a male quartet. The building itself is an English type structure, the interior design is unique, combining the stone, plaster and exposed timbering of English architecture, a heavy turned roof simulating thatch. Hocking, while in Europe and in the east, visited similar chapels to obtain suggestions for use in designing the Chapel of Roses and providing it with comforts and services desired by the public. The building has a private entrance through landscaped grounds from Stone avenue, making it unnecessary to drive through the cemetery to reach the chapel.
