Obituary ____ Lydia J. daughter of Nathaniel and Eliza Hayden, was born in Stark county, Ohio, May 7th, 1839, and departed this life at her late home, two and one half miles west of Columbus Grove, Ohio, May 17th, 1916 aged 77 years and 10 days. She was the oldest of a family of eight children, three boys and five girls, only two of who survive, Mrs. Amos Nichols, of Columbus Grove, and Ely Haydon of Colorado. At the age of eleven years, she came to Putnam county with her parents and settled on a farm about one mile from her late home. She was united in marriage to Benjamin F. Irwin, March 22nd, 1902. To this union was born nine children, one daughter and eight sons, two sons having preceded their mother in death, namely Clement L. and George T. The names of the children living are: Mrs. George Barnt, of Attica, Ohio, Benjamin F, Nanthaniel K., James A, Charles P., Lewis K., and Guy, all of Columbus Grove, Ohio. Beside these children she raised and cared for, four step children, Harmon L., Mrs. John Bair, Mrs. Graham Reed of Columbus Grove, and Mrs. William Vany, of Port Clinton, Ohio. Mother Irwin, united with the Christian church at Columbus Grove, in the year 1895 and continued a faithful follower of Christ until her death. Mother Irwin was always a good woman, and exemplified it by her christian life and will be missed by her family and friends. She was patient through all her suffering which covered a long period. She had a desire to live that she might be with her family. She leaves to mourn their loss, one sister, one brother, six sons and one daughter, twenty grand childre The funeral was conducted by Rev. G. B. Garner of Berky, Ohio, assisted by Rev.'s Bagby and Eberly, which was held at the home, after which the remains were buried in the Turner cemetery, west of Columbus Grove, ohio. ----
