COMMON BENEFIT We have heard long ago from the lips of one of our best teach- ers the statement that approval of the other man's success is a very essential thing to one's own happiness. No doubt most of us have opportunity to fulfill, this truth but few find it easy to ac- complish. Envy is very strong an easily claims the upper hand in our thoughts and even actions. We find it difficult to congratu- late our neighbor and competitor in his success, and yet this is just what we have to do in order to make ourselves happy and even prosperous. There is an infallible law of universe which we cannot evae without serious danger to our- selves. It is the law that makes us all common sharers of good or of ill. No on can succed but we benfit from it and no one can fail but we also feel its degrading influence. We believe therefore, speaking in a commercial sense, that the co-operative spirit of the busi- ness men of this town last week, when they united to offer to the people of this community special sales, was of very far reaching consequence. Some gained much, others little. But it was all to- gether a wonderful success from the standpoint of community spirit and good will.
