FIVE KILLED IN CROSSING NEAR HOLGATE Five yound people killed at the B. & O. crossing at Holgate last Thursday ngiht. The young people were going home in a Ford car and when they crossed the B. & O. tracks a freight car which was being switched caught them, tearing the Ford to pieces and killing all the occupants. The freight car was only going five miles and hour. The people who met death were Cecelia Royal, 14; Frank Royal, 18; Virgil Brown, 17; Thelma Seimet, 15; and Larry Schwab, 17. These were all residents of New Bavaria and were high school students. This is only another lesson as to how careful people ought to be at crossings. We noticed about two weeks ago a freight doing switching on the D. T. & I. at a cross road and the engine pulling the freight, uncoupled itself just before it came to the crossing. The engine moved ahead while the cars followed slowly behind. An automobile waiting at the tracks was just about ready to pass thru the gap when the freight cars passed over the road. Being at night the cars could not be seen. The road was not guarded at the time. ----
