A thinking man will be a thankful man. A thinking man reasons and finds himself justified to give thanks for what he has and what he is privileged to enjoy. The stout hearted Pilgrims who landed at Plymouth, Mass., in the fall of 162 found sufficient reason to give thanks even after one half of their numbers laid buried beneath the sod and their only food was shell fish and water. Even at this reduced fare Elder Brewster raised his voice and gave thanks cherefully that they were "permitted to suck of the abundance os the seas and of the treasures hid in the sands." And now after three hundred and two years our republic has grown to a marvellously powerful nation, with all the resources and wealth that we need, daily growing bigger and bigger, with other nations begging for help, and yet our country is seething with discontenct and reeking with the stench of selfish intrests. There are strikes, boycotts, crimes, murders, thefts, and all the base intterests to which man is guilty. We need a revival of sober thinking and simple living. We need to go back to the spirit of the Pilgrims and out of the travail of our souls give thanks to God for His mercy and love. ----
