Stewart passed away at Memorial Hospital Monday morning about 10:30 o'clock. He had been ill since last fall, but later apparently recovered his health and had returned to work, but was again stricken with illness, the effects of which proved fatal. The body was brought to the home on Vine street where funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock under auspices of Monticello Lodge No. 224, F. and A. M., with brief services by Rev. T. L. McConnell, and interment was made in McPherson cemetery. William H. Stewart was born on a farm north of Fremont on Nov. 18, 1867, and was aged 65 years, 1 month and 27 days at the time of his death. His parents were Stephen and Martha Stewart, and his boyhood days were spent on his father's farm. In June, 1879, he was married to Miss Alice Hinton and to them were born two children, namely, Carl Stewart and Mrs. Carl Sollenberger, both of Cleveland both of whom survive, together with his wife. Mr. Stewart spent most of his life in this vicinity. For many years he was janitor at the schoolhouse, where he was known, loved and respected by every pupil. He was a licensed engineer and for many years was one of the engineers at the water-works plant. For the past few years he has been the faithful watchman at the Universal Paper Products Co. plant. He was a member of Monticello Lodge No. 244, F. and A. M., and of Clyde Chapter No. 90, Royal Arch Masons. He was greatly respected by everyone who knew him, and was a loving husband and father. The sympathy of many friends is extended to the family in their bereavement. ----
