Greist, Put-in-Bay physician, and Miss Sylvia Schultz, Toledo nurse, who lost their lives near the Islands last Saturday night, has been the subject of universal interest. They had driven in an automobile from Put-in-Bay to Middle Bass to see a patient of Dr. Greist, and on the re- turn trip either got too venturesome or became confused, got out of their course and their car went throught the thin ice west of Green Island and both were drowned. All night and all day search was made for them but not until Monday was the spot found where the car struck the thin ice and went down in 30 feet of water, carry- ing both its occupants to a watery grave. Both bodies and the car were recovered. Dr. Greist, Put-in-Bay's only phy- sician, was 32 years old and was un- gaged to be married in the spring to a young lady of the island. Miss Schultz was known to a number of Clyde people, having been the nurse in charge of Arthur Miller's case when he underwent an operation in a Toledo hospital. She was engages to be married soon to a young man of that city. Miss Schultz had been called to Put-in-Bay to nurse Mrs. T. B. Alex- ander, wife of the Island Mayor, who was formerly Miss Edith Brown, a granddaughter of John Brown of Harper's Ferry fame, who "soul goes marching on." The tragedy is one of the saddest in the history of the islands. ----
