Chappelear of Circle- ville is asking the aid of fellow-legis- lators in preserving and insuring the life of the Logan Elm, in Pickaway County. Logan, the Mingo Chief, under this tree delivered his famous speech to Lord Dunmore at the close of the Dunmore War, October 1774. It is now the most historic tree living in the United States and perhaps the oldest tree in the great Mississippi valley. It has been visited by many Sandusky county residents. "Substantial repairs are needed to prolong its life. To insure the life of this historic landmark, which is owned by the State of Ohio, for prob- ably centuries to come, tree experts and surgeons estimate approximately $2,000.00 of repair work and surgery is required," Senator Chappelear said. ----
