Sheriff William Wirt and Miss Martha Nord stole a march on their friends in Fremont last Saturday morning, when they were quietly married at St. Joseph's parish house by Rev. Fr. Waechter at 7:30 o'clock, in the presence of the immediate families. In order to escape many rice throwers the couple came to Clyde and took the New York Central train for a trip to Cleveland, Buffalo and other eastern points. The charming bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Nord, living near Fremont, and has been an efficient teacher in the schools. Sheriff Wirt, who is filling the unexpired term of the late Oscar C. Ballard, is one of the youngest officials in the state. He is a veteran of the World War, having served as sergreant in Co. K 147th Inf. 37th Division, with which he made quite a name for himself. Since assuming his duties he has made a fine record. Upon their return to Fremont the bride and groom will go to housekeeping in the sheriff's residence. -------------------- S. M.
