Couple Celebrates Golden Wedding Sunday Many Guests Present to Share in Day's Festivities Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Schumacher living just north of Pandora, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last Sunday afternoon in the presence of about 80 invited guests. The sumptuous dinner prepared by the children was eaten under the great and shady locust trees on the spacious green lawn. Tables were arranged in rectangular fashion, with the parent's table in the center. Around this latter table were grouped all the children but two who were in Arizona and who could not be present. There were ten children present and their grouping about the large large table recalled the old days when all were home and shared the common meal. Immediately after the meal the guests gathered in a semicircle under the trees and a program was givne by the children and other relatives present in honor of father and mother. A number of little incidents which happened years ago within the family were related and which added a touch of humor to the occasion. Songs and recitations were given by the grandchildren. The children of the parents sang two choruses, and another unique feature was a familiar song rendered by the brothers and sisters of Mr. Schumacher. Rev. Regier of Grace Church and Prof. Schultz of N. Manchester gave appropriate addresses. The couple was presented with $100 in gold, the gift being carried to them in a colored velvet bag, by two grandaughters. Another present by the children was an original verse printed in gold letters with the children's pictures and autographs grouped around it. Remarks were made by a number present, wishing the aged couple many years of happy wedded life. Mr. and Mrs. Schumaker were married on September 14, 1871 and lived for the most part of their lives on the farm about two miles north of Rocksport, where the Hilty school house now is located. About ten years ago they moved to their present location nhear Pandora. Twelve of their children are living. All were present except the two oldest ones, Samuel and Helen Diller of Phoenix, Arizona. The other children are Menno, Noah, Reuben, Sarah, Orlin, and Oliver of Pandora, Albert of Colombus Grove, Cyrus of Payne, Hiram of Napoleon, and Mrs. Salena Schultz, of N. Masnchester, Indiana. ---------------- Welsh Singer Dies at San Diego Hotel San Diego, Feb. 1 -- Trevor Evans, manager of the Rhondda Welsh chorus, which has been singing here on a tour of the United States was found dead in bed at a hotel this morning.
