Kitty Now Picks Cherries Frank Russell's dew worm-catching kitty has decided to show her master she can be of other service to him, now that most of the dew-worms on Piety Hill have been captured. Kitty's latest wrinkle is picking cherries and when there is a ladder placed against the tree she scampers up to the top-most round and pulled off the fruit into her mouth. If there is no one there to get the cherries she holds them in her cheek like a squirrel until some one comes with a pail. She is an expert in getting out on perilous limbs, and Frank now uses her to clean out the tops of the trees, having almost discarded his tall ladders altogether. Frank says he doesn't know what in the dickens the cat will do next, but he is scared to death for fear she will go to stealing watermelons. ---------------------- John Harbourt, son of Mr. and Mrs. S.
