Chicago, 1896) P. 785: John Zimmerman's Father came to Pennslyvania from Germany with his parents at age 2 years. They were farmers. John married Rebecca in 1821 and in 1822 moved to Ohio settling in Stark County, Ohio. 13 years later (?1835) they again moved, this time to Seneca County, Ohio. In 1847, they purchased the farm where William still resides in Green Creek Township, Sandusky County, Ohio. There in 1850, Rebecca died. ... John died in 1878 in Seneca county. Note: There is no Josiah Zimmerman on the census in 1860...either his given name is John Josiah and he went by John to cut down on confusion, or he was living with some other relative, or the census missed him. Josiah would have been 13 years old during the 1860 census and Rebecca would have been 45 years old when he was born.
