Matthews Rites Tuesday-Died Sunday After Long Illness-John H. Matthews,74, of 72 N. Monroe st., died at 6:55 a.m. sunday, Oct. 1,1961, in Mercy hospital. He had been admitted there as a patient the day before. He haqd been in failing health for 10 years. Born Toledo,OH. Sept. 14, 1887. Mr. Matthews came here from that city 30 years ago. His parents were John H. and Alice (Isaac) Matthews. Surviving are two sons, Dorsey, Tiffin; Kenneth, Findlay; a daughter, Mrs. Harold Ford, Toledo; and a brother, Rolla H., Tiffin. Six brothers and six sisters are deceased. A retired crane operator. Mr. Matthews was an army veteran of World War 1. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Adams Turner funeral home, and will be conducted by the Rev. A. E. Pusey. Burial will be in Fairmont cemetary.
