PA Dec. 25, 1803. When he was three years old, his mother and father moved to Montgomery Co. Ohio and built a house where Centerville is located. William grew up and married fifteen year old Ann Maria Doty November 9, 1826. In 1831-2 William built a cabin in Shelby Co. near where Oran is now, west of Sidney. Some of William's brothers moved to area with him and they raised and educated their families. William and his brother, James, spent a lot of time hunting wolves, deer, and some bear. Indians were on friendly terms. After 36 yrs. of marriage Maria passed away May 22, 1862. William was north hunting the fall of 1871 when he started feeling unwell. He died Nov. 6, 1871 just two days after returning from his hunting trip. Maria and Bill were buried at the Oran Christian Church in Shelby County. I am searching for Maria's parents. She was born in New York on Aug. 27, 1811. She may have had a brother named Benjamin. I am also searching for a photo of William's mother, Rosanna Reed Alexander Taylor if one exists. She passed away Aug. 17, 1878 in Montgomery Co. Taylors married into the Carter, Hughs, Jellys, Leighty, Davis, Favorite, Aikens, ect. families of the area. This is an automatically-generated notice.
