May 18, 1897. A Well Known Cantonian Succumbs to Disease After Brief Illness The familiar figure of Daniel Maser will no more be seen driving on Canton’s streets. He died Monday from predisposing acute tuberculosis although exhaustion was the immediate cause of death after an illness of two weeks. He was born 57 years ago in Paris, Stark county where he worked at his trade of carriage painter. About 16 years ago he came to Canton and went into the livery stable business. He first located in Piedmont street but after staying there a year removed his place of business to the corner of Fourth and court streets where it has remained ever since. The taking away of a devoted husband and father will be deplored not only by the members of the family but the many friends he had made since his residence in this city. He leaves behind a wife, two daughters, Mrs. Lichtenwalter and Mrs. Mesnar, and a son, Henry E. Maser. Fred and David Maser of this city are brother and step- brother to the deceased. The funeral services will be read at the residence, No. 415 East Fifth street by Rev. E. P. Herbruck, of the Trinity Reformed church Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock after which the body will be taken to Westlawn cemetery for interment.
