November 24, 1908. John Meyers Dead. Former Cantonian Died at Cuyahoga Falls—Remains to be brought here. John Meyers, who until six years ago was a resident of Canton, died Monday afternoon in the Cuyahoga Falls sanitarium at Cuyahoga Falls. Death was caused by Bright’s Disease. (Note: Bright's disease is a historical classification of kidney diseases that would be described in modern medicine as acute or chronic nephritis.) The deceased, who was fifty years of age, was born and reared in Canton. About six years ago he accepted employment in Kent, where had since resided. For two years he had been in failing health. Meyers was the nephew of Mrs. Emma Maser, of this city, and the cousin of Mrs. R. O. Mesnar, wife of Canton’s fire chief. The remains are to be brought to Canton Tuesday when they will be taken to the Mesnar home at 519 High street, where funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Rev. August Peter, pastor of the German Evangical church, will officiate. The remains will be placed in the receiving vault at Westlawn. Later burial will be in the family plot. Meyers is survived by his father Israel Meyers, of Kent; and by one sister, Cora Meyers, of Kent; and one brother, Charles Meyers, of Cleveland.
