For several days previous his condition had shown improvement and his friends were hopeful of his recovery. His age was 61 years. Surviving him are his wife, who was Miss Elizabeth Weber, and the following sons and daughters: Dr. J.E. , Dr. R.A. , Austin, and Robert Menegay, Mrs. Cecelia Hoffee and Mrs. Jabez Dudley, all of Louisville. Five sisters and two brothers also survive, they are Joseph Menegay, of Chillicothe, Mo. Mrs. Charles Monnot, of Alliance, Sister Nativity of the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Mary at Villa Marie, Pa, Mrs. Catherine Lombardi, Mrs. Louise Schillig, Miss Virginia and August Menegay, of Louisville. Edward Menegay was the youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. John Menegay. He was born and reared on a farm west of Louisville and his entire life was spent in this vicinity. For many years he was the proprietor of a barber shop and early and late he faithfully performed his work. Those who were more intimately acquainted with Mr. Menegay knew of his many good qualities and of the kind, pleasing disposition which he at all times manifested. His devotion to the members of his family could not have been greater and at all times he was the same patient, kind husband and father. They and his many relatives and friends mourn because of his departure. Funeral services were held at St. Louis Catholic Church, Tuesday morning. Solumn requiem high mass was sung at which Rev. Father Weckel officiated as celebrant, Rev. Father Schlindwein as deacon and Rev. Father Kasinsky as sub-deacon. There was a large attendance of friends and relatives and the floral offerings were numerous and beautiful, emblems of sympathy and esteem. The bearers were Peter J. Beucler, Amadeus Evrard, Charles Dwyer, Henry Beuchat, Frank Fredey, Frank Guittard, Homer Kropf and John C. Prenot, friends and business associates of Mr. Menegay for many years.
