Mr. Schumacher was born in Schoenau, Bavaria, Germany, on the 17th of October 1845, and was therefore 77 years, two months and four days old. He moved with his parents Philip and Elisabeth SCHUMACHER to America when quite young and located in Miltonsburg, Ohio, where the family lived only a few years before coming to Woodsfield. In 1868, he was married to Miss Anna M. LANG, who survives. To this union were born, Edward SCHUMACHER of Columbus, Clarence and William SCHUMACHER and Mrs. Stella SMITH of Woodsfield. Mr. Schumacher was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical church, Woodsfield Independent Order of Oddfellows and was identified with many other good movements. He followed the bakery and grocery business all his life, and was always regarded as a strictly honest and reliable man. The funeral took place last Saturday with religious services by his pastor, Rev. Joseph REINICKE, with the ritualistic services of the I. O. O. F. added as a tribute of respect. The floral offerings were many and very fine. Interment in Oaklawn cemetery.
