Both military and religious rites will be held t Jefferson Barracks, MO at 1:30 p.m. on that date, and burial will be made in the national cemetery there. Vandiver was a machinist's mate, third class, serving aboard the U.S.S. Edsall, when he lost his life in early March, 1942. He leaves his mother, Mrs. Lela Pauline Kelly, a brother, Charles Vandiver, and stepfather, Burt C. Kelly, all of Akron. Born in Birmingham Ala., on March 19, 1922, he moved to Akron with his family a few years later and was graduated from West High School in June, 1940. Larry entered the Navy in September, 1940 and his lasat visit with his family was in October of that year. Mrs. Kelly last heard from her son on Nov 21, 1941, and was notified that he was missing in action shortly after a sea battle near Java. Additional Comments: I found these obituaries in some old newspapers under some flooring I tore out of an old house. I am not related nor do I know anything else about this person.
