Goble, Mexican War soldier. Silas was born in Summit County, Ohio about 1825 He died October 7, 1880 Elizabeth MUSTELL Goble was born June 14, 1830 in London, England, died about February 23, 1911. Silas and Elizabeth were married October 27, 1850 in Ohio In January 1893 Elizabeth lived at 107 Smith Street, Akron, OH. At that time she was disabled with chronic muscular rheumatism. Silas enlisted in the 3rd US Infantry in Akron, Ohio on March 17, 1848. He was discharged June 23, 1848 in Newport, Kentucky. He is described as 5'8" tall, grey eyes, brown hair, fair complexion, and a shoemaker by trade. Other documents in the file show him serving under Major Gwyner(sp?)in the 6th infantry. File also has a (very) brief description of Silas service.
