Gemma Payne, 91, of Green, passed away on March 22, 2010. 

Gemma was born on March 8, 1919 in Joplin, Missouri, to the late Lewis and 
Carrie McCrea, and soon moved to Akron, Ohio. After graduating from Ellet High 
School, she worked for two years as a "Rosie the Riveter" at Goodyear Aircraft 
during World War II. She graduated from Actual Business College and worked at 
Bankers Guarantee Title and Trust until her mariiage to Virgil West and they 
opened their own real estate company. 

After his death in 1969, she moved to Dunedin, Florida, and worked as a travel 
counselor at St. Petersburg Motor Club, Clearwater Branch, for 13 years. Gemma 
is a member of the Kirk of Dunedin, Florida.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Virgil West, Peter Lucchelli, and 
Leonard Payne. She was also preceded in death by brother, Jack McCrea and his 
wife Van Ellen. She is survived by son Mark (Bev) West and grandaughters 
Carrie and Annie who all lived in Green. She is also survived by many nieces 
and nephews and their families. 

Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 28, 2010, at the Shermesser 
Funeral Home, 600 East Turkeyfoot Lake Road (Route 619). Calling will be one 
hour prior to service. Private family interment at Hillside memorial Park. 
Memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse Service.
