His love for the old flag under which he faught never diminished and one of the pleasing sights to him was to see Old Glory floating in the free American air. Mr. Rhodes was also a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 556 of Spencerville, to which order he faithfully contended. His first marriage was to Katie Bowman. This marriage was blessed with three children, Frank Rhodes of Akron, Ohio, and Rufus and William who died in childhood. The death summons called his first companion to the Spirit world.
