Mr. Wilson was born in Akron, attended Akron elementary and high schools,Goodyear Industrial University, Akron University, and Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Ga. He served in World War II with the Army Corps of Engineers in the South Pacific. Mr. Wilson formerly worked for the Columbia South Division of Pittsburg Plate Glass, the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., and the Wilkinson Co. He was the owner of the Wilson Conveyors, and retired as president and owner of the Allied Conveyors & Crane Systems, Inc. His memberships include the Fairlawn Optimist Club, Joppa Lodge 666 F&AM, Akron Scottish Rite 32nd Degree Mason, Yusef Khan Grotto, Ohio State Highway Patrol Auxiliary, American Legion Post 209, where he served as a member of the Board of Trustees, Fairlawn V.F.W. Post 349 (charter member). Mr. Wilson received various citations for community service in the field of veterans affairs. For the past 20 years, Mr. Wilson had lived in Fairlawn, and his life epitimized serving his community and his fellow man. He believed that the volunteer spirit is what made Fairlawn a great community in which to live and raise a family. His community service included the City of Fairlawn Planning Commission, the Fairlawn Board of Zoning & Building Appeals, the Fairlawn Environmental Services Commission, the Fairlawn Community Improvement Corp. He served as a representative of the City of Fairlawn on the Citizens Committee of the Akron Metropolitan Transportation Study (AMATS), Northeastern Four County Organizational (NEFCO), Council of Governments (COG), and the Cuyahoga Valley National Recreational Area. His political activities included serving as campaign treasurer to Judge Robert H. Maxon, and Fairlawn Mayor Peter Kostoff. He also served as a Democratic precinct committeeman. Mr. Wilson was a recipient of the Frank Summy Award for outstanding service to the community by the District of Ohio Zone 5 Optimist Club, and in 1985 was selected by the Fairlawn Chamber of Commerce for the Citizen of the Year Award. Fred is survived by his wife, Helen M.; son, George L. of the residence; aunt, Mrs. Mary Brown of Ravenna. Calling hours 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday, at the Dunn-Quigley-Ciriello & Carr, Fairlawn Chapel, 39 S. Miller Rd., where Joppa Lodge 666 F&AM will conduct services at 7:30 p.m., Sunday. Services will be held Monday, 11 a.m., at the FAIRLAWN COMMUNITY CENTER, 3486 S. SMITH RD. (PROCESSION TO FORM AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER.) Interment Glendale Cemetery.
