Unfortunately, Seymour died while Cal was serving with the First Special Service Force in Europe during World War II, and the whereabouts of the family Bible was lost. However, Mrs. Eva Baker-Perkins, widow of Cal’s first cousin Clyde Perkins [13 May 1885 – 13 January 1950] gave an envelope to him in the 1960s which contained Perkins family records written on half-size note paper. Multiple people made entries; nothing indicates who started this record, but John Hull Wing is a possibility. Errors were made in spellings and dates. The following pages contain a transcript, plus more accurate data from public documents. According to verified transcripts of marriage, they were married on November 13, 1909, in the city of Jamestown, Chautauqua County, New York. The documents claim Elton was age 21 (he was actually 18) and Fannie was age 18 (she was actually 17). The official who solemnized the marriage was “Rev. H. G. Ogden, M. E. Clergyman,” and the witness was Elizabeth Perkins. Elton’s paternal grandmother, Sarah Marie Leet-Perkins (Mrs. Addison Perkins, born 6 August 1833, died 21 March 1911), was a Leet and a Truesdell, many of whom were active as officers in the township and county court systems in Trumbull County, Ohio. It would appear that Elizabeth Perkins took Elton and Fannie to New York to be married since Fannie was under-age and five months pregnant with Walter; they would have been challenged by relatives in Ohio. NOTE: Walter Ray Perkins [7 March 1910 – 12 September 1970]. NOTE: George Nelson Perkins [10 February 1912 – 8 June 1912]. NOTE: Henry Byron Perkins [28 July 1913 – 29 November 1981].
