D. Hanna, merchant, and proprietor of Rose Creamery, Scotch Grove; was born in Trumbull Co., OH, in 1822; he came to Andrew, Jackson Co., IA, in the spring of 1853, where he lived 7 years engaged in the wagon-making business; was Justice of the Peace while there, from 1855 to 1860. His first wife was Mariette Rice; she died in OH in Dec. 1849; his present wife was Mary Dice, from Mahoning Co., OH; has 1 son by first marriage—Isaac S., and 3 children by second marriage—Charles, Clara and Maggie. Mr. Hanna removed from Jackson Co. to Clayton Co. in 1860, thence to Linn Co. in 1863. He came to his present location in May 1874, and engaged in the grain trade; he engaged in the merchandise business in December of that year; built his creamery in the spring of 1879.
