HISTORY OF TRUMBULL COUNTY, OHIO (Page 36 1/4) PELTON Among the very earliest of Gustavus's pioneers was the Pelton family. Josiah Pelton, a native of Connecticut, came here in the year 1800, and purchased the north half of the Township. He remained one year, and then returned, in the spring of 1802, and brought his family, consisting of wife and eight children. He settled in Vernon Township til he built a house and cleared some land, and then they all came here. One of his sons, Julius P., was married to Miss Hannah Folsom on the 12th day of February, 1810. Result of this union, six children; four boys and two girls; five of whom are living. Mr. Pelton lived at centre of town, and followed the occupation of a farmer. He was a worthy member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. In politics a Whig, and afterwards a Republican. He lived in the confidence of his people, and died respected by all, June 12, 1862. His wife survives him, and is a strong, intelligent lady. She lives with her son, Buell B., who is the kind donor of this short sketch. Mr. Pelton is the oldest citizen in town, being eighty-eight years of age. Lysander Pelton, son of Julius Pelton, was born January 11, 1814. He is a farmer, mechanic, cheese-maker, and general dealer in horses. February 1, 1836, was married to Miss Harriet N. Williams. Result of this union, four children, all girls, and all living. ==== Maggie_Ohio Mailing List ====
