Mrs. Elizabeth Helsel
HOUTZDALE - Mrs. Elizabeth Helsel,83, a long-time resident of Houtzdale, died 
at the Philipsburg State Hospital yesterday at 6:30 pm. She had been 
hospitalized since she fell and broke her hip three weeks ago.
The deceased was born in Hubbard,Ohio, on March 13, 1873. A daughter of Mr. 
and Mrs. Isaac Thomas.  She was a member of the Houtzdale Presbyterian Church 
and the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.
Preceded in death by her husband,John Helsel, and two daughters, she is 
survived by the following children:Thomas, St. Michaels;Mrs. Katherine Wood, 
Philipsburg; John, Norwalk, Oh.; Joseph, James, Elias and Sarah, all of 
Houtzdale; William, Trafford; Mrs. Margaret McClelland, Houtzdale; Mrs. Mary 
Baldacci, Pittsburgh.
     Also living are 22 grandchildren;14 great grandchildren; two sisters: 
Mrs. Robert McIntire,Smithmills and Mrs.Harry McElwee, South Fork, Pa.
     Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 pm from her home,Rev. Louis W. 
Lytle of Houtzdale Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow in 
the IOOF Cemetery at Brisbin. Friends my call at her home from 8 o'clock 
tonight until time of services.

Surviving sisters are Martha-Mrs.Robert McIntire and Jane(Jen)- Mrs.Harry 
McElwee.
Freeberg Funeral Home,Houtzdale assisted the family with funeral.Interment May 
20,1956
Parents:Isaac Thomas b.1847 and Eliza (Morris)Thomas
Siblings preceding her in death: Elias,Isaac,Catherine,Mary,Sarah,Thomas,one 
other unidentified sibling.
