Reproduction or re-presentation of copyrighted material will require the permission of the copyright owner. *************************************************************************** File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Sandra Nolan Dewey_Nolan@msn.com June 24, 1997 *************************************************************************** WILL Of AARON BATES -------------------- Trumbull County, Ohio Written 4 January 1820 and recorded and proved July term 1821 - "Know all men by these presents that I Aaron Bates of the township of Vernon in the County of Trumbull and State of Ohio being now weak in body though sound in mind and memory and for which I have great reason to bless God, I do hereby make and ordain this to be my last will & testament (viz). I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Sarah Bates one certain piece of land situated in the sd Vernon township containing about eleven acres & bounded as follows viz: west on the center highway running through said township north and south, north on lands of Stephen Linsley, west partly on lands of Stephen Linsley & partly on land of Oliver Humphrey, & south on lands of Henry Bignal; also one other piece of land containing about six acres, it being meadowed ground & is situated on the east side of the above described highway and opposite to the other described piece of land & bounded west on highway, south on lands of Henry Bignal & east & north on land of my own which land is now enclosed in one lot, also the use & benefit of one half of my mantion house with all the furniture & utensils appertaining thereto with the privilege of so much of my barn as will be necessary for her accommodation. Also two Cows, all of which property above described as she, the sd Sarah, is to have control & benefit of during her natural life. I also give & bequeath to my blove daughter, Sabina Bates, one hundred dollars to be paid out of my estate by my Executor one year after my decease. Also one good bed & the furniture appertaining thereto. I also give & bequeath unto my two other beloved daughters Sally Thompson & Orelia Bignall ten dollars each to be paid out of my estate by my Executor one year after my decease. I also give and bequeath to my beloved son, Horace Bates all the remainder of my estate both real & personal; also all the estate both real & personal which I have bequeathed to my beloved wife, Sarah Bates. I ordain that the same revert back to the sd Horace at the decease of the said Sarah. I do further ordain & appoint Martin Smith my Executor & my beloved wife Sarah Bates my Executrix with full power to do all the business necessary & appertaining to their said appointment. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this fourth day of January one thousand eight hundred and twenty.
