Sarah Alberta (Albertha) Carothers was born December 30, 1899 at Knox, 
Guernsey, Ohio to Samuel M. Carothers (born September 24, 1860 Liberty, 
Guernsey, Ohio to William L. and Sarah (Dales) Carothers, died March 14, 1933 
Randolph, West Virginia) and Myrtle Julia Eaton (born April 14, 1876 Ohio to 
Sarah and Hiram Eaton, died March 27, 1927 Tuscarawas, Ohio). 

Sarah had 4 siblings: Cecil Earl (born July 14, 1897 Knox, Guernsey, Ohio); 
Mary E. Carothers (born 1903 Ohio); William E. (born 1907 Ohio); and Robert 
(born 1913 Ohio). 

Family found in the 1900 census living at Knox, Guernsey, Ohio: Samuel Brothers 
39, Myrtle J Crothers 24, Cecil E Crothers 2, Sarah A Crothers 5/12, Sarah 
Crothers 80. 

Found in the 1910 census at Washington, Tuscarawas, Ohio: Samuel M Carothers 48 
(says born 1862), Mytle Carothers 34, Cecil E Carothers 12, Sarah A Carothers 
10, Mary E Carothers 7, William E Carothers 3. Father was a farmer.

Sarah married Lester Eugene John before 1920. 

Couple found in the 1920, 1930 censuses living at Salem, Tuscarawas, Ohio: 
1920: George F John 55, Emma A John 56, Esta L John 27, Justa V John 18, 
Charles F John 16, Audrey M John 14, Lester E John 18, Alberta John 20 daughter-
in-law. 

1930: Lester E John 30, Sarah A John 30, Arthur M John 10, Mary L John 8, Ema A 
John 66. 

Lester and Sarah John had 2 children: Arthur M. John (1920-2009) and Mary 
Luella John (1921-1994. 

Sarah died September 5, 1996 at Tuscarawas, Ohio. She is buried at the Bethel 
Cemetery, Salem, Tuscarawas, Ohio beside her spouse.

Censuses were transcribed as found, obvious spelling errors not corrected.
