Adams of near Plain City on Jan. 26, 1865, following his return from service in the Union Army during the War of the Rebellion. This union was blessed by the birth of one son, Edwin G. Adams Jr. The husband and father died in June of the year 1875 without having realized the joy of beholding his infant son whose birth did not occur until December of that year. Upon acceptance of Jesus Christ as her Saviour and Lord, Mrs. Adams united with the Mt. Olives Christian Church near her home in January of 1878 being baptized in May 26 following. She remained in this communion of the Master until her recent home going which term of service made her a disciple of the Nazarene for more than 43 years. One of the extraordinary things about the life of this departed sister was her custom of keeping a diary which was begun at the death of her husband 46 years ago and concluded on the Fourth of July of the last week of her life. This record was really begun by the father of her husband and now constitutes a continuous record of family and neighborhood events covering over a period of 60 years. A second peculiarity of her life was the orderly system she had adopted of performing her household duties having without fail on Monday of every week done her laundry work for a period approaching 40 years. The deceased was a member of a family of eleven children, three sisters of whom survive her. They are Mrs. Phila Poling of near Marysville, Mrs. Hattie Bigelow of Milford Center and Mrs. Oretta VanGordon of Rapid City, Michigan. Besides her son, Edwin G. Adams and his wife who so tenderly ministered to her in her final sickness, she is also survived by three grandchildren, Hildreth Ursel, Louise and Cecil Edwin. This sister had almost reached the second milestone past the four score mark which the Psalmist declared was very unusual. We have no reason to doubt that she had fought a good fight had kept the faith and had finished the course, and that there had been laid up for her the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give her at that day; and not to her only, but unto all them that love his appearing. The funeral was conducted at the home on Monday afternoon, at 2:00 o'clock, July 11, 1921, by the Rev. J. B. Hagans of Delaware, assisted by the Rev. Frank M. Patterson, of Plain City. Interment at the old Darby township cemetery near Plain City.
