Mr. Chavous was a veteran of the late war and served his country long and gallantly. He was an upright and honest citizen, honored and respected by all who knew him. The funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock and he was attended to his last resting place by a number of his comrades in the G. A. R. Post of this city, of which he was a member. He leaves one son, Edward Chavous, of this city.
