Mr. Evans was born in Raleigh, NC and his father was a slave for many years. At the age of one year, he came with his parents to Ohio and they located in Washington C. H.and and a year later moved to Richwood. Later, they moved to a farm near Pharisburg, where they lived until 1873 when the family moved to Marysville. Mr. Evans married Oct 4, 1899 to Barbara Stewart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Griffin Stewart of Mechanicsburg. The had no children. Besides the widow, Mr. Evans is survived by two sisters, Flora Evans and Mrs. Sarah Mendenhall of Marysville; a brother, Harry Evans of Coshocton and two half sisters, Mrs. Mary Kelly of Marysville and Mrs. Sophanie Ramsey of Rushville, Indiana. The following siblings are deceased: Harry Alfred, Nathanie. and Abel Evans, Mrs. Laura Butler, Mrs. Dora Brown and Mrs. Nora Vigor. Funeral services at Morey Chapel, conducted by Rev. Brown of the A. M. E. Church; interment in Oakdale.
