The service was held in the Friends church, conducted by Rev. J. B. Hagans, of Magnetic Springs. The church was crowded, and there was not even room in the church yard for all of the friends who gathered to pay their last respects to these prominent and esteemed citizens. The death of Robert Finley occurred Sunday afternoon, the next day after the demise of his son. The father’s ailment was of long duration, and he was hovering between life and death when the Grim Reaper took off the son. The latter was afflicted with cancer. Robert Finley was seventy-three years of age, and he was a veteran of the Civil war, having served in the 96th regiment O. V. I. He built the first house in the village of Peoria. For a number of years he conducted a store there, his son afterward taking up the business. The son was also postmaster at Peoria. Following his death last Saturday his bondsmen met and selected his widow to carry on the affairs of the office. A. E. Knox, postmaster at Raymond, has been handling the mails at Peoria until after the funeral. Robert Finley is survived by a widow, but no children. The burial of father and son was made at Oakdale cemetery in Marysville, Monday afternoon.
