Together with a boy by the name of Benton, he was swinging over the water on a rope fastened to a tree, when suddenly the rope broke, precipitating Jacobs to the bottom; a distance of eight feet. The boy could not swim and the Benton boy was unable to save him. Dr. Round, of Ostrander, was summoned but could render no assistance, as life was extinct. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon and were largely attended.
