Mrs. Harriett Bennett, age 83 years 9 months and 2 days, widow of the late 
Foster Bennett, a well known farmer of Union Township died Wednesday evening 
about eight o'clock at her home east of Irwin in Union Township, after a long 
illness of cancer of the breast.
She was born in 1837 in Lancaster county, Pa., her maiden name being Miss 
Harriett McBride. She had been a resident of Union township for 49 years, 
moving to the Bennett farm in 1872.
In 1857, she was married to J. Foster Bennett and his death occurred in 
November 1906. Mr and Mrs. Bennett were parents fo two children one of whom a 
daughter, Mrs. Grant Gault of near Irwin, Survives. A daughter died in infancy. 
About ten people, most of whom were relatives, resided with Mr. and Mrs. 
Bennett at different times since they were married. A sister Miss Ella McBride 
was with Mrs. Bennett when she died. She had made her home with her for several 
years. Another sister Mrs. Margaret Doty, lives in Mechanicsburg. There are two 
brothers living, Andrew McBride of Springfield and D.C.McBride of Columbus, 
Mrs. Bennett was a member of the Methodist church at Milford Center.
Funeral services Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Bennett residence 
conducted by Rev. Hugh Evans of Marysville, assisted by Rev. Mr. Schaffer of 
Milford Center and interment in the cemetery at the latter place in charge of 
Morey & Creviston
